You are advised to use an ice pack every hour on your eyes to reduce swelling. The following day you must use an ice pack 4 to 5 times throughout the day. Use prescribed eye drops or ointments.
Avoid strenuous exercise for a week and avoid rubbing your eyes. If using contact lenses, do not put them in for at least 2 weeks. Wear darkly tinted glasses to protect the skin of your eyelid from sun and wind. Sleep with your head raised higher than your chest for a few days. After a few days you will return to your surgeon’s office to have stitches removed and for about a week avoid: asperin, iboprovene and any other medication which may increase bleeding (if needed you can use panadol to control pain).
Most people return to normal activities after 2 weeks and bruising and swelling will resolve by then.
